No, though they are primarily outside, as heat and cold permit. The class will often walk through the trails to the library for further research on the day's topic. During rainy days, base camp is under the pavilion. During extreme heat or cold, the class has access to the community center recreation room.
No. While Michelle plans out the course of each week's classes, we do not follow a set curriculum. Our class is meant as an enrichment for students, not as a curriculum replacement.
The class meets next to the Mason Mill community garden. Students are encouraged to gather early at the library trail entrance to guide themselves through the trail to the meeting spot. However, this is optional.
Yes. When it's forecast to rain a bit, we are likely to don rain gear and splash in puddles. When heavy rain is expected, class will meet under a large pavilion. In extreme heat or cold, the class has access to the community center recreation room. Michelle's rule of thumb is inside if it's below 45 degrees with winds 10+mph or 40 degrees with winds 0-10mph.
The class will take no more than 12 children. With our lead facilitator Michelle and assistant Amishi, that means at worst a 6:1 ratio.
